Manuka honey comes from the nectar of the plant Leptospermum Scoparium, is a rare and pure honey (not pasteurized) harvested by bees in the pristine areas of New Zealand and has a significant content of Manuka pollen. It has an excellent taste and has been a traditional Maori nostrum, for years. It has therapeutic use for common cold, sore throat, hoarseness, cough and other common winter viral infections. At the same time, it has been used to protect the digestive system as well as a patch on microtraverses or skin diseases.
After scientific research in Europe and Asia, it was found that Manuka honey contains the highest content of natural enzymes with antibacterial properties, called Methylglyoxal or MGO, from any other honey.
